Waterlogue - Create your own water color art!

Published: Apr 8, 2014 · Modified: Jul 11, 2024 by Susan Moncrieff · This post may contain affiliate links · 9 Comments

I have totally fallen in love with an iPhone app.  Oh my gosh, is it ever fun and it makes such beautiful art!!   It does cost $2.99. But it is so worth every penny and then some.   Have you ever taken a picture and for a fleeting moment thought about framing it and putting it somewhere?  But then you lost your confidence and didn't?  Well, this will make you want to frame, enlarge, print on canvas and all kinds of fun stuff.   All with photographs you probably have already saved on your computer.    Well, since pictures are worth 1000 words, I should start showing you what I'm talking about.

This is the wreath on my front door.  Doesn't it look gorgeous as a watercolor?

And this is what my neighbor's front walkway looked like last summer.  I sent her this picture when we were having cold, snowy weather as a little pick-me-up.

I thought it would cheer her up and it did!   It was from a blog post called Wonderful Walkways.  Here is what she did with it:

Displayed on the top shelf of her perfectly decorated book shelves.  {sigh}  I'm so practical, if I had these book shelves they would be totally crammed full of books.   I wouldn't know how to start making book shelves look so pretty!

{heavy sigh}  Don't you find that some people who have a real talent often don't realize how talented they are?  I'm lucky I can invite my friend over to help me when I just can't figure out how to make it look 'right'!

But, look at some more pictures.  This is one of my favorite pictures.  It has me scouring the internet and gardening stores for a red bench.  It's from my blog post called Pretty Planters.

I seriously want to blow this up and put it on a canvas and hang it in my house.  But, Karyn might come to my house and think it's weird that I have a picture of her garden bench up in my house :).

OK, it's not just flowers.   Here is a picture I've always really liked for many reasons.  It's one of the last true iron bridges in Iron Bridge, Ontario (Canada).  About ½ hour from where I grew up.  I love the strength and the straight lines of this bridge.

So, if you want to have fun with this program, download it onto your iPhone.  Sorry, it doesn't work on other devices yet but the developer is surely working hard on it.   Hope you've enjoyed my latest obsession!!  If you want to see lots of creative and amazing watercolors, go to your Instagram account and search for #prettywaterlogueapril.

(I was not compensated in any way by Waterlogue.  I just love a good iPhone app.!)

I also LOVE this app but the developers don't seem to be able to capture/stop the photo at the point of the sketch...it's not that the watercolor it creates isn't wonderful, but I want to p but I want to watercolor paint my OWN pictures. I'm befuddled that as high tech as they are, that should be a fairly simple process.

I’m 80 but always had an artistic ability. Did hair for 39 years professionally and God gave me the talent to do it and fit it great. Never wanted for a client. I could put dance anyone when I was young. I play the piano by ear and I have an eye for decorating but my confidence level is very low. I’ve done some nice pieces because I’ve had some classes but haven’t continued due to cancer that I’ve had almost 10 years. Makes me sad I can’t find subjects to draw and paint that’s not complicated for me.

There a free app that's available both for Android and iPhone that will do amazing things to ordinary pictures. I'm having a lot of fun taking pictures of my grandchild mixing them with styles from master painters. Check it it at http://www.pikazoapp.com

I'm sorry, I didn't realize it wouldn't be going to Android. But, never say never. I bet if enough people request it, the Waterlogue folks will reconsider. It is such a fun app.!
