Easy three-ingredient peach cobbler dessert
This three-ingredient peach cobbler is still a favorite from when I first started blogging! It is such a quick and easy dessert to make since I normally have everything at home.
Seriously, these are the three ingredients! Yellow cake mix, a large can of peaches and a stick of butter! I’ve been told that in some parts of the country this is called a dump recipe. Three ingredient peach dump recipe just doesn’t sound as good!
Oh, yea! A super simple three-ingredient peach cobbler. It’s probably the easiest recipe I’ve done and it was gobbled up the quickest. Some of you may know this by a different term. If you are from the South, this would be called a peach dump cake.
Ingredients:
Yellow cake mix
Large can of Peaches (29 oz)
1 stick of butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 Fahrenheit.
I use nonstick cooking spray on my casserole dish because it makes cleaning it later easier. And the whole point of this recipe is to keep it easy.
Dump can of peaches into the casserole dish. I cut a few of the thicker ones in half but you don’t have to. I’ve even cut the peaches in half so each piece is only about an inch wide. But you don’t have to – keep it easy!
Pour the dry cake mix on top. Smooth it gently with a knife (or a spoon, or a fork or your fingers….) DON’T MIX IT. Yes, it stays dry and powdery on top of the peaches – it should like the picture below.
Cut the butter into thin slices and then spread it evenly on the cake mix.
You are done your prep.! Now put it in the oven for 30-40 minutes. You want it to be bubbly and the crust to be a golden brown. And it smells sooooo good! My kids are used to me experimenting and making stuff. They usually ignore my newest project and roll their eyes at my excitement. {sigh} Teenagers!! But when I made this, they came in and were looking for whatever it was that smelled so good.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm
Enjoy the taste, savor the smell and not even a bowl to clean!! The only thing that would make this three-ingredient peach cobbler any better would be a scoop of ice cream : )!

We all need these easy recipes, don’t we! Thanks for doing what you do.
I use to be a manager with Tupperware and remember sharing these recipies with guests at my parties but it’s been a long time and I had forgotten most of them. Thank you for reminding me. I with I’d remembered them when my church was taking food to the homeless and I was baking every Saturday. Stay well.
I made this for Thanksgiving this year and it was a huge hit! The only issue I ran into was that the spots between the butter were still flour-ey around the 30 minute mark, so I just chopped up a little bit more butter and put it anywhere that looked dry. Worked like a charm and was delicious!

I’ve been making it a little different, & we love it, I mix cake mix with 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts, melt butter & mix together, then crumble over top of peaches it’s so awesome, no dry gritty cake mix , try it you will love it .
I enjoy all the recipes you share, especially the easy oneshave you ever made the civil war res pie for conferate pie?

Well, since I had a Bundt cake pan from my Christmas fruit cake baking, I thought I’d see what happened if I made it in that pan. I dont know whether the peaches migrate to the top. If they dont and I turn it out on a shallow platter and all of them look like a “peach upside down cake”, it would be just as good and also an interesting take on the pineapple version. I am going to try this recipe today I’ll let y’all know how I turn out
I just made the peach cobbler
I just made the peach cobbler and it looks so good first time making it I know it’s going to be good I’m going to take some pictures and let y’all see it can you tell me how does it look thank you you have a great day
can you spread the cake mix thru the peaches??? And when you pour the peaches in can you add sugar, cinnamon
Made the Peach Cobbler easy breezy and OMG so good my husband and girlfriend wives it down with scoop of vanilla ice cream. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you for letting me know I didn’t mention the size. I’ll go right into the post and correct that. It is a 9 x 13 pan.
Make sure you are spreading the cake mix evenly. Perhaps even use a strainer and break up the lumps. Sometimes it happens when the cake mix is ‘lumpy’. Basically, the cake mix needs to be able to absorb the butter and the liquid from the canned peaches.
Let me know if this helps!
Every time I try making this, not all of the cake mix cooks. So when you cut into it, you can actually see the cake mix in some spots. Not bad, still tastes delicious. Any ideas on how to fix that or does it do that for you too?? I think I’m cooking it long enough, the top is completely golden. Maybe more butter?
You don’t mention the size of the pan at all. I’m guessing it’s 9×13, then again, could be 9×8 or 8×8. You just say My Casserole Dish. That can mean anything. Always remember, cooking is an art, but baking is a SCIENCE.
I would think homemade canned peaches would work well. And, be even more delicious!
Making the 3 ingredient peach cobbler – can you use homemade canned peaches??
Thank you for this incredibly delicious and simple recipe. It is now one of my family’s favorites! https://www.countrypeony.com/blog/threeingredientpeachcobbler

I am going to try this recipe this weekend… It is just the type of recipe I need. Low cost, easy to prepare and sounds delicious.
I like a lot of peaches. I used 3 cans of peaches. I added vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, allspice & nutmeg. I should have thicken the heavy syrup. Taste ok for a lazy way of making a peach cobbler.
Glad you enjoyed the peach cobbler! Thanks for sharing the recipe with your readers!! It is so easy and I keep the ingredients on hand so I can make this last minute.
I think that would work just fine! You probably need to bake it according to the pie crust directions.
can I use a pie crust on top instead of the cake?
Hi! Preheat and bake at 350. For complete directions, click into the blog post. Thanks for stopping by!
What temp did you set the oven to? This looks amazing!!! Super simple for a college girl to make!
Thank you! Try it. It tastes as good as it looks!
Today is the day. I just hope I can make it past breakfast before I pull out the three ingrediens, lol.
I have not done that but would think it’s worth a try. If you do try making this with a gluten free cake mix, please let us know how it turned out!
All I can tell you is my teen boys LOVE this! Let me know how it turns out for you!
Oddly enough I decided to find a recipe for peace cobler yesterday. Then, being lazy, I thought I would wait to see what Momcrief had this week. Welllllllll, here we all are and I will be checking it out Saturday.
I wonder if it will work with a gluten free cake mix?
I have never made it with margarine but I think it would work. Just make sure to use the stick margarine (like you would bake with).
This looks so good! Does it have to be butter, though? Could I just put a dollops of margarine over it all?
Thank you for letting us know! Hmmmm, so many pie fillings to try out now!!
So I did try it with the peaches pie filing, turned out great!
Not 100% sure BUT, I think there is a good chance it would work. It’s pretty low risk to try though. If you do, please let us know if it works out!
Sooo I didn’t have peaches in the juice but I had peaches pie filling, would that be ok?
Thanks for you nice comment and for sharing. Make sure to follow my blog at https://Momcrieff.com. Whenever I find a super simple recipe like this (and I’ve tried it), I share it with my readers.
Thanks for your comments. I will have to try the cherry and brownie mix suggestion. Sounds really good!
Here in my part of the USA we always called this kind of cake a “Dump” cake. 🙂 Easy because you just dump in your ingredients, shake it around a little bit, “patty cake” the top and it’s near done! Make all kinds with different fruits AND different box cake flavors, too! How about cherries with a chocolate brownie mix? YUM!!
WOW! You can’t beat that! So easy, and looks delish! I’m off to share it on my facebook page! 🙂
Looks delicious! And I like how you put small pats of butter on top instead of melting it and trying to pour it evenly. Genius.
Would this work with fresh peaches that have been frozen? Looks yummy!
Made this and it was delicious! Was gone in 2 days! Thanks so much for the great recipes.
