Ingredients
To make pigs in a blanket with hot dogs, you only need two ingredients:
- 8 Regular-Sized Hot Dogs (buy your favorites - I like using the longer all beef ones or sometimes just what is on sale)
- 1 Tube of Crescent Rolls (8 triangles)
- Cheese (optional) to stuff into dogs. I use what I have in the fridge - cheddar, mozzarella, colby jack or any kind of mild cheese.
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat and Prepare
Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a non-stick baking mat to prevent sticking.
Step 2
Prep the Hot Dogs
Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel. This step ensures the crescent roll dough sticks well to the dogs. IF adding cheese, use a sharp knife to cut a slit into the hot dogs and then cut cheese to appropriate size and fill slit with it.
Step 3
Roll It Up
Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 triangles. I just pat/stretch the wide end to be a consistent size for the hot dogs. Place one hot dog on the wide end of each triangle and roll it up, wrapping the dough around the hot dog.
Step 4
Bake
Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down. Or, if you added cheese make sure the slit with the cheese faces up.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown.
Serving Tips
Let the pigs in a blanket cool for a few minutes before serving. Pair with your favorite dipping sauces for an extra burst of flavor.
Can You Double the Recipe?
Absolutely! If you’re hosting a large group, doubling this recipe is a great idea. Simply use two tubes of crescent rolls and 16 hot dogs. Bake them in batches or on multiple baking sheets to ensure even cooking. These crescent roll pigs in a blanket are always a crowd-pleaser, and you’ll rarely have leftovers!
Condiment Serving Tip
Serve these pigs in a blanket crescent rolls on a large platter with a variety of dipping sauces like ketchup, mustard, honey mustard, or barbecue sauce.
FAQs
Yes! You can brush the crescent roll dough with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or shredded cheese before baking. Another option is to serve them with elevated dipping sauces like dijon mustard or a tangy honey mustard.
Note that if using something like bratwurst, you would have to precook the sausage, or it will not be finished at the same time as the crescent roll dough.
Storage and Reheating
Can be stored in a sealed container or wrap these pigs in a blanket with plastic wrap for up to 3 days in the fridge.
Reheat in the oven at 375F for approx. 5 minutes. I do not recommend microwaving.

Crescent Roll Hot Dogs
Ingredients
- 8 hot dogs
- 1 package Crescent Rolls with 8 triangles
- OPTIONAL Cheese to stuff into the hot dogs. I use either cheddar, mozzarella or Colby Jack.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees℉
- Dry the hot dogs with a paper towel. This helps the dough stick to the hot dogs.
- Unroll the Crescent Roll dough, split into 8 triangles and pat dough down to create even sized pieces.
- If choosing to add cheese, cut a slit in the hot dogs, not going cutting all the way to the ends. Add any of your favorite cheese (cheddar, mozzarella or colby jack are my family favorites). Wrap the dogs, starting with the wide side of the triange. When baking, have the cheese sidefacing up.
- Bake roughly 15 minutes, watching carefully for when they are nicely browned. The timing may vary by a minute or two, depending on the size of your oven and how well calibrated the temperature in.
- To Serve - Provide ketchup and mustard for dipping. My kids also loved Ranch dressing and BBQ sauce.
