If you thought radishes were only for salads, I have a great recipe for you to try! Roasting these vegetables changes their flavor, taking away their strong peppery bite. The taste is mild and you can decide how much crunch you want by how long they are roasted (I roast them for 10 - 15 minutes max.)
I grow these in my garden and love that they are quick-growing. This simple recipe is a quick and easy way to enjoy these vegetables, allowing you to easily have a different side from your normal. If you do want an easy radish salad, this is a quick and simple salad that I grew up with. Another very simple suggestion is this easy tomato sandwich. Perfect for when tomatoes are at their peak.

Why I love roasting these vegetables
Flavor transformation: Roasting unlocks a whole new world of flavor in radishes. When I make them, I constantly try them to see if they truly are mild in flavor. They go from a peppery bite to a mild and delicious taste experience.
Textural contrast: Roasted radishes offer an unexpected change in texture. They become tender and slightly crisp, making them a wonderful addition to salads, bowls, or snacks.
Quick and easy: Roasting radishes is incredibly quick and easy. They cook up in just 10-15 minutes, making them a perfect option for busy weeknights or when you need a last-minute side dish.
Ingredients
Fresh radishes cleaned tops and bottoms. An FYI, if purchasing from the grocery store, the little bags of them are about a pound. These are surprisingly popular so I buy extra to make more.
Olive Oil, just enough to sprinkle on them so they are lightly coated. Any other neutral oil works well too. Don't use extra virgin olive oil since that isn't for higher temperatures.
Salt, I prefer to season this with a kosher salt or any other type of course salt.
Herb Garnish - I prefer chives, but dill, parsley or thyme are also good.
Instructions
This is a simple recipe, and I'm writing out the step-by-step only because this is a new way of preparing this vegetable for many people!
Preheat Air Fryer to 400 °F. If using a traditional oven, preheat to 425°F.
Line the baking pan with parchment.
Step 1
Cut off the leafy tops and root from the bottom. Cut the radish in half and drizzle with oil. Mix so that the radishes have a light coating of oil. Turn the cut side down so the cut side can brown during roasting. Drizzle some salt on top.
Step 2
Roast for 10 - 15 minutes. I check with a fork after the 10 minutes point. I like them not too soft but with just a bit of crunch. At this point, they also start to brown around the edges, which is my visual clue that they are ready.
If you want a softer texture or make these in a regular oven, they will usually take closer to 15 minutes.
How To Serve
I place in a bowl, add more salt if needed and give a quick toss. I find these look so pretty with the addition of some fresh chopped herbs.
My favorite is chives and they are pictured with them below. Other herbs that I have tried and liked include parsley, dill or thyme. I use what I have growing in the garden at the time. Chives are perfect because they pop up in gardens right when planted radishes ripen.
FAQs
Yes, this recipe works with all kinds of radishes. If your radishes are larger or smalled, you may need to adjust the roasting time by a few minutes.
Yes they are, however, I prefer them cut off when I roast radishes.
Storage and Reheating
Place in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days. I usually reheat in a small frying pan or in my air fryer.
