    Why I love this recipe

This tender juicy steak meat cooks incredibly fast: Dinner on the table in under 10 minutes? Yes, please!

Packed with flavor: Montreal Steak Seasoning delivers a bold taste that's hard to beat.

The air fryer locks in moisture for perfectly cooked steak bites every time. It's so tender and juicy!

It's easy with hardly any mess to deal with. No grill to clean or no pot to wash up after.

These steak bites are so versatile. They are perfect for a quick weeknight meal, game day snack, or appetizer.

    Ingredients

Just a few ingredients to make this fantastic beef main dish, or a healthy and filling meat snack or appetizer.

steak bites made with top serloic steak cut into smake cubes, Montreal Steak Seasoning, olive oil, onion and grarlic powder and melted butter.

Top sirloin steak is my favorite. To make about a pound, buy a little more (1.25 pound). That way when your trim the meat you still get a full pound out of the steak to eat. You can also use round steak, flank steak or skirt steak. Keep in mind that different steaks can be less tender and if they are thinner, will cook faster.

I love seasoning beef with Montreal steak seasoning. It is salty with a nice peppery bite. If you have a favorite steak seasoning, you can certainly use that. If you don't have any at home, just mix up your own delicious spice mix. I'll sometimes do 1 teaspoon Kosher salt, 1 teaspoon coarse pepper, and ½ teaspoon paprika.

Steak bites are often served with seasoned butter drizzled over them or with the butter mixture on the side to dip. Melt butter and add some garlic and onion powder, to taste.

      Instructions

Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. My air fryer only takes about 3 minutes.

      Step 1
Make sure the steak is cut into bite-sized pieces. In a medium bowl, mix olive oil and steak seasoning with the meat.

A bowl of bite sized pieces of uncooked steak gets olive oil and seasoning mixed into it.

      Step 2
Spread steak pieces onto the air fryer basket, ensuring the pieces are not too close. If overcrowded, they don't cook well. It's better to make two batches, rather than overcrowd.

bite sized steak pieces spread on an air fryer basket.

      Step 3
Air fry steak for 4 - 6 minutes. It does cook that fast! Watch closely and remove when done.

air fryer steak bites are cooked after 4 minutes.

      Step 4
While the steak is resting, melt butter (do not overcook). Add garlic and onion powders. Stir well. Drizzle steak bites with butter mixture or offer on the side to dip. This is OPTIONAL and I usually don't do it.

      How to store

These store really well in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. I reheat in the air fryer for just a minute or two.

It may also be frozen, but wrap well and freeze only up to 3 months, or the flavor starts to deteriorate.

      FAQs

How do I know if the steak bites are done?

You will have to watch very closely and if you don't want them cooked through, test early with a meat thermometer. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 130°F.
I don't worry if those are cooked to more of a medium well stage because they are still juicy and delicious!

I'm buying a tougher cut of meat and want to marinade it.

Use a mixture of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and some of your favorite herbs. Since pieces are small, it doesn't need to marinade long (an hour should be good)

      Equipment

      • 1 Air Fryer

      Ingredients

      • 1¼ pound sirloin filet Cut into bite sized pieces - large pieces of fat trimmed. Other cuts including round steak, flank steak or skirt steak can be used. Note that both tenderness and cook time will vary with different cuts of beef.
      • ½ tablespoon olive oil
      • 1 tablespoon steak seasoning I love Montreal Steak Seasoning
      • Parsley Fresh - optional as decorative garnish

      For the spiced butter

      • 1 tablespoon butter melted
      • ¼ teaspoon garlic salt
      • ¼ teaspoon onion salt

      Instructions

      • Preheat air fryer to 400℉. That normally takes 3-4 minutes
      • In a small bowl, mix steak bites with olive oil and steak steasoning.
Spread onto air fryer basked, ensuring meat is not crowded
      • Air fry for 4-6 minutes. Watch closely to achieve desired doneness. These cook fast and I'm fine with them being more on the medium well side because they are small, moist meat morsals!
      • OPTIONAL - Prepare seasoned butter mixture by melting butter (until just melted) and adding garlic and onion powder.
Butter mixture can be drizzled onto steak bites or served on the side to dip pieces into.
I add some chopped parsley as a garnish on top.

      Notes

Storage - stores well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.  It can be frozen for up to 3 months if well-wrapped.
