Slow or Clogged Drains? Inexpensive chemical free solution!

    Slow drain issues?

Do you have slow drains?  Still draining but you know they aren't draining like they should?? Don't want to pay for an expensive plumber so you are just living with it?  Your feet get soaked in shampoo and conditioner-laden shower water each day? So you suspect hair is causing the slow drains?

Do you have a bathroom sink doesn't drain properly when all you do is brush your teeth?

An inexpensive solution to slow drains with no chemicals!

The solution is a simple and inexpensive plastic drain clearing tool!

I discovered a little tool at my local hardware store and it was only $1.99 (update - I see them for $2.99 now)!  And I can't believe I didn't know about it!   Just in case I'm not the only one who didn't know about it, I thought I would share.

Yes, this simple little miracle worker costs all of $3 ish!!  And it works wonders.  But, be warned, if you have slow drains and haven't used this before, it can be gross.  Like stomach-turning gross. The main issues in slow drains can be hair.  Face it, people, what's clogging your drains isn't pretty.  Especially if it's been there for a while.  That's why I do my drains on a more regular basis 'cause I don't ever want to see what I saw the first time I unclogged my drains again!

An IMPORTANT tip that it doesn't tell you in the directions.   Take everything off of your counters.  Cause it can spray the gross stuff on everything when you pull this tool out.  Especially things like toothbrushes and make-up.  Ummmm, I moved them the first time but didn't remove them.  I tossed them after I finished.

The tool is a simple plastic drain cleaning tool.

Here goes.  Unwrap the drain clearing tool.  Then just push it down the drain.

Plastic tool is pushed down the bathtub drain.

Just kind of wiggle and push it.   Excuse my swollen forearm.  Apparently, that swelling is an 'extreme normal reaction' to a wasp sting {sigh}.

What goes in, must come out.   Now pull the clog removing out.   I kind of did a wiggle & pull method.   Sometimes it feels like it's stuck but it's just catching on what you want to get out of the drain.

Plastic tool pulls out what is clogging the bathtub drain.

See, stuff comes out. It catches a lot of hair that is in the drains and pulls it out.  Now, this is just regular maintenance.  If you've never done this before, it can be a little on the nasty side!

There are some warnings on the back of the package with the directions that I would like to emphasize.  DO NOT use this after you have used chemicals.  Those prongs do cause water and stuff to splash.  You certainly don't want to spray yourself with drain cleaner.   Full directions are on the back of the package.

It's this little amazing thing that has saved us a ton of money and keeps my drains draining well!!

This drain unclogging tool is now available at most hardware type stores or even online.  It is much easier to find now.  But,  it's still inexpensive!

Seriously, it's amazing.   The instructions say to use once and dispose of it.  But, I'm cheap.  I keep using it until the 'teeth' fall off.   Seriously, go buy this.  It's a great tool and sooooo much cheaper than a plumber!

I grow my hair for locks of love because even in old age it grows fast and it is very fine and for some reason it is still a dark coffee brown color. And yes, I am nearly 70 years old. So I grow a lot of hair and one of the joys of doing that for years is cleaning drains. I do it often! I use kelly clamps but it will be a lot easier as soon as I find one of these great tools! I just cut my hair last week (26 inches this time) so I will be cruising along for awhile but soon enough the long hair will be clogging the drains again. I think I will buy several of these things!

I bought it at my local family owned hardware store. But, I've seen it at Home Depot and other large hardware stores.
