Why I like this recipe
Kid-Friendly Baking: This recipe is a great way to get kids involved in the kitchen. Everyone can help roll the peach slices in the crescent dough.
Easy Recipe. Crescent rolls are a great shortcut for a flaky crust. The sugar and Sprite create a delicious caramel-flavored sauce for crescent roll peach dumplings. It's perfect for a quick last-minute dessert.
Customizable: This recipe is a hit with people of all ages. You can experiment with different apple varieties, and add a sprinkle of cinnamon or apple pie spice for extra warmth. I use Sprite but have also made it with Ginger Ale and Mountain Dew. My neighbor, who originally shared this recipe, made it with Mountain Dew.
Simple Ingredients: This recipe requires only a handful of ingredients, most of which are likely already in your home. It does not use any fancy, hard-to-find ingredients that you only use once.
Economical: Fresh peaches aren't always available and they can be expensive. Since these are being baked, I use frozen peaches. No one can tell!
Ingredients
This recipe uses simple, inexpensive ingredients.
Frozen peach slices. Since the peaches are baked and covered in a buttery sweet sauce, you can't tell that frozen peaches have been used. You can use fresh peaches, but I don't recommend canned (they can soften too much).
Refrigerated crescent rolls. Your favorite brand will work.
Unsalted butter is traditionally used when baking. I tend to have salted butter at home, so that is what I use.
White granulated sugar is what I normally use for this recipe. However, I've used brown sugar a few times and it works great. The sauce a little darker, but the flavor is basically the same.
Cinnamon - or, if you have apple pie spice at home, use that! Just between you and me, if you can't find cinnamon or apple spice in your spice drawer, pumpkin spice works too!
Use ½ can of Sprite. You can also use ginger ale or Mountain Dew.
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350F. Spray an 8 x 8 baking pan/casserole dish.
Step 2
If using frozen peach slices, this is easy! I let them sit out for a few minutes to soften. Use 2 slices for each dumpling.
Open the crescent roll package and separate the triangles.
Step 3
Roll the two peach slices in each triangle, starting with the large end first. I pinch the sides to enclose the peach slices, but I don't worry if they are not totally sealed in the dough.
Step 4
Place all dough-rolled apple pieces into your 8 x 8 baking/casserole dish and set aside.
Step 5
Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat, then stir in the sugar and cinnamon. Stir until well mixed. The sugar will not dissolve when you take the pan off the heat, so it will look a little grainy. That is normal!
Step 6
Pour the buttery sugar sauce onto the peach dumplings, trying to cover them evenly.
Then, pour Sprite around the dumplings (around the edge and in the middle of the baking dish). I don't usually use the full can. When making this sized recipe, I use a little less than ½ the can (the can has 12 oz, I use about 4 oz in the recipe).
You are trying to avoid removing the caramel sauce you just poured onto the crescent roll-wrapped apples.
Step 7
Bake 35 - 45 minutes in preheated oven until golden brown.
How to Serve
Stir the sauce and spoon some of it onto the dumplings - that's what makes these so delicious!
A scoop of ice cream is delicious but optional!
Storage
These can be refrigerated for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. I don't recommend freezing them because the sauce will cause the baked crescent rolls to get soggy.
These smell so good when they are being baked!
FAQs
I have cut down the amount of Sprite I use for this very reason! Try with the new amount I state in the recipe.
Yes! Keep everything in the baking dish and reheat. I'd recommend 350F and bake for 10 minutes, checking if it's fully heated.

Easy Peach Dumplings
Equipment
- 1 8 x 8 baking dish
Ingredients
- 12 oz peach slices Plan to use 2 frozen slices per dumpling.
I buy a small 12 oz bag of frozen slices and usually have a few left over.
- 1 cans crescent roll dough Pillsbury is a popular brand
- ½ cup butter (1 stick)
- ¾ cups white sugar Brown sugar can also be used
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon or apple pie spice
- 4 oz Sprite Less than ½ can! Ginger Ale or Mountain Dew can be substituted.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray 8 x 8 inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
- I usually set out the frozen peach slices for a few minutes so they start thawing and seperate easier. We will be making 8 apple dumplings, and using 16 slicees.
- Separate the crescent rolls into triangles (normally 8 per package). Roll the sliced peaches into the dough, starting with the largest end. I seal the peaches in by pinching the ends. Doesn't need to be totally sealed.
- In a small saucepan on low heat, melt butter, then add sugar and cinnamon. Once sugar is dissolved, pour onto the unbaked apple dumplings.
- Pour Sprite around dumplings (around edges of pan and down the middle, trying to not wash off the sugar cinnamon you just poured on).
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, until golden brown.
Notes
After baking, spoon the sauce over the apple dumplings. The sauce is delicious! Vanilla ice cream may also be served with this. Refrigerates well for up to 3 days, but I don't recommend freezing it.
