These Naan bread pizzas are easy to make. They have a delicious pizza flavor with simple ingredients from your refrigerator. It tastes amazing and is much faster than picking up or getting a pizza delivered! You can make these in 15 minutes!
Family favorite pizza toppings can be used to customize the flavor! I made margarita pizzas with thinly sliced tomatoes and fresh basil. The kids would usually have either just cheese or cheese and pepperoni. Another easy but delicious flatbread pizza is this sautéed onion and mushroom pizza. And if you want to make a quick pizza sauce, a small can of tomato paste is the main ingredient for this delicious pizza sauce!
Why I love these Naan Pizza's
They are quick and easy to make! The fact that you can customize these individual pizzas is a huge bonus when you have picky family members! Make sure you put the ingredients on your grocery list, and then you will have a super quick and delicious meal. I like having these with a salad in the summer or soup in the winter. An entire naan bread pizza would be a hearty dinner portion.
Ingredients
2 Naan bread - I've been loving the Naan bread from Aldi. It's a great price from there too!
¼ cup pizza sauce - make your own with tomato sauce and Italian seasonings.
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese - sliced mozzarella makes this even easier.
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese (optional)
Thinly sliced tomatoes
fresh basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Ingredient substitutions or options
This recipe is for margarita pizza. You can certainly be creative and substitute or add toppings you like.
- marinara sauce if you don't have pizza sauce
- deli sliced pepperoni
- browned sausage crumbles
- red or green sliced peppers
- sliced mushrooms
- onions
- sliced black olives
Tip when using vegetables
If using vegetables, make sure they are pre-cooked. I would also use a paper towel and squeeze the excess moisture out. Since the Naan is pre-cooked and you are only cooking your Naan pizza for a short time, vegetables won't cook through if put on uncooked pizza. But I like some things that way (red peppers). It's a personal preference!
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425F
Step 1
I add sauce and then the mozzarella cheese, reserving a little cheese to sprinkle on the top at the end.
Step 2
Add additional toppings, sprinkling any reserved mozzarella and the parmesan on the top at the end. I also added the dried oregano on the top at the end. Some folks like it on their tomato-based sauce.
Step 3
Bake directly on your oven rack (the rack should be higher than the middle). I use tongs and side the pizzas in and out of the oven onto a lightweight cutting board.
I usually let the pizza rest for a few minutes before slicing it into four pieces.
FAQ's
Prebake the naan for about 2-3 minutes before putting toppings on.
You can buy whole wheat naan bread at some grocery stores. Also, if you use less cheese, that really helps cut the calories!
Yes! Just make sure to wrap it well with plastic wrap. Let it thaw, and then place it in the oven for a few minutes until the cheese is melted again.
