Red, White and Blue Trifle Dessert in individual servings
Looking for a fun red, white, and blue dessert for your summer parties? This easy mason jar trifle is a gorgeous layered treat with cake, whipped cream, fresh berries, and a drizzle of chocolate. It’s a simplified take on a classic English trifle — just as pretty, but way less work! Serve it up at your July 4th gathering or any summer BBQ. Your guests will love the individual mason jar servings.
6 12 oz jelly jars Or jars of your own, even of a different size.
Ingredients
4 slicesyellow cakewhite cake, or pound cake works too!
1quartstrawberriesfresh
1pintblueberriesfresh
½cupchocolate syrupthe ice cream topping time
8ozWhipped toppingor use fresh whipped cream
shaved chocolate, as garnish on topoptional
Instructions
Gauge the size of your serving container. If it's shorter, do thicker layers, or if it's taller, do two sets of the layers below.
Add small pieces of cake as the bottom layer. Drizzle some chocolate syrup on top.
Add blueberries and cut up strawberries in a thin layer.
Add a layer of whipped topping.

Storage
May be refrigerated for up to 3 days. Not suitable for freezing.Use any containers you have to make these. Plastic ones for kids, wine glasses if you are being fancy
Helpful hints
Use store-bought cake or bakery angel food to save time.
Cut cake into small cubes so the layers fit nicely.
Don’t overload the chocolate syrup. A little drizzle goes a long way between layers.
Use clear jars or glasses so everyone can admire the layers.
Swap in raspberries or blackberries if you like.
