These microwave baked apples are perfect when craving a warm, delicious dessert but short on time. These are incredibly easy to make and require minimal effort, making them perfect for busy weeknights or satisfying sudden sweet tooth. This could also be a great part of your breakfast!
2mediumapplesbaking apples work well. I used Honeycrisp.
1 teaspooncinnamon
2 teaspoonsbrown sugarheaping teaspoons!
2tablespoonsbutter
vanilla ice creamoptional (I add this if I'm making these for dessert. However if it's a breakfast item, then I do not add ice cream).
Instructions
Peel the apples. Core them, but be careful to leave the bottom attached so the melted butter mixture is incorporated into the apple.
In a small bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar. Divide and place in the apples.Add ½ of the butter into each apple core area.
Microwave on high for 4 minutes. Apples should be tender. Test with a fork and if not tender enough, microwave for a minute or two longer.
Cut apples in half, spoon cinnamon sugar butter sauce over each half, and then add an optional scoop of ice cream.
Notes
Can be stored in the refrigerator in a sealed container up to 4 days. If frozen, the apple consistency often ends up softer. I only make what I will need that day since this is a very easy recipe to make.
