½teaspoononion powder
2teaspoonsWorcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Hamburger buns for serving
Instructions
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and break it apart with a spoon.
Cook until no longer pink.
Drain any excess liquid if needed, but leave a small amount to keep the meat moist.
Add ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine well.
Reduce heat to low and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce will thicken and coat the meat. Taste and add salt and pepper if needed.
Spoon the mixture onto hamburger buns and serve warm.
Notes
Use 93% lean turkey for the best balance of flavor and moisture.Let the mixture simmer so the sauce thickens.Toast the buns lightly so they don’t get soggy.Do not rush the simmering step - this is when the flavor develops.**Note the calorie estimate does not contain calories for the hamburger bun.
