Did you know brats in the air fryer are perfectly cooked? As a child of German parents, I've been enjoying brats for over 20 years. In the last 4 years, I've discovered the magic of making brats in the air fryer. This method is a game-changer - it's quick, easy, and delivers delicious results every time. Juicy brats are on the table in just 15 minutes! Go ahead and try making air fryer brats!
Dijon mustard and sauerkraut(what my German family used)
other topping options include
regular mustard, ketchup, raw onions, fried onions, peppers, pickle spears and any other toppings you may traditionally use for sausage/hotdogs/hamburgers and love.
Instructions
Preheat air fryer to 400°F (it only takes a couple of minutes). Spray air fryer tray/basket with nonstick spray. Or, use air fryer specific parchment paper for less mess and easier cleanup.
Air fry for roughly 12 minutes. I usually flip them at 6 minutes and watch closely during the last couple of minutes. An internal temperature of 160°F is the optimal internal temperature for cooked bratwurst/sausages. They brown perfectly on all sides when flipped.
Remove from air fryer (I use tongs) and allow to rest for 5 minutes before enjoying them.
Serve with brat buns and favorite toppings and sides.
Notes
Storage
Place in a closed container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. If well wrapped, it may be frozen for up to 6 months. I reheat brats in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes. They can also be microwaved for about 30 seconds each. Be careful. If overheated in the microwave, brat they may burst
