In a large bowl, mix cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil until a thick dough forms.
Cover and refrigerate dough for 20 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place granulated sugar in one bowl and powdered sugar in another.
Scoop about 1½ tablespoons dough and roll into balls.
Roll each ball first in granulated sugar, then in powdered sugar.
Place cookies on baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
Bake 9–11 minutes until tops are cracked and edges are set.
Cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.

Chilling the dough helps create thicker cookies with more dramatic crinkles. You can skip chilling, but the cookies may spread more while baking.Rolling the dough first in granulated sugar helps keep the powdered sugar coating from dissolving during baking.Avoid overbaking. Cookies should still look slightly soft in the center when removed from the oven.
