This cherry pineapple dump cake is easy to make and quick too! You use pantry ingredients, which are pie cherries, pineapple tidbits, cake mix and some real butter. This dessert goes fast. Best when enjoyed with vanilla ice cream!
Dump in the can of pineapple. Then spoon the pie cherries on top of the pineapple
Spread cake mix evenly over the cherries and pineapple. You are using the dry cake mix with no additional ingredients.
Thinly slice one and a half sticks of butter (¾ of a cup). The more slices, the better! Spread them on top of the cake mix.
DO NOT STIR.
Bake for 30-40 minutes. Watch for the color of the crust to be a delicious golden color.
If you notice at 30 minutes that there is dry, cake mix, take it out of the oven and spray a bit of non-stick spray on the dry parts. Put it back in the oven for a few minutes (3 to 5 minutes).
Let stand for 5 - 10 minutes once removed from the oven, then serve with ice cream.
Notes
If you slice the butter thin enough, you should not have any dry cake mix once this is baked. If you do, spray a little baking or cooking spray on the dry spots and bake for 5 more minutes.A scoop of vanilla ice cream is always delicious on any baked good!
