This is Goldenrod

Ragweed is the weed that causes many people's allergies in the fall. It starts flowering in August in many parts of the country.

Common ragweed has leaves like this.  This is a very distinctive leaf pattern.  You won't miss it!

See how they are kind of fern like?

Those green spikes are the ragweed flowers.  They stay green like this.  And release so much pollen from these flowers.

All these green flowers create a huge amount of pollen!

Common ragweed likes to grow in sidewalk and pavement cracks.  It's amazing what a tough plant this is!

You will also see it in disturbed soil.  Like in a construction site. They can often be found on the side of the road.

People mistake goldenrod for ragweed because they bloom at the same time!
