Freezing basil with oil in ice cube trays

Freezing basil is an easy way to preserve it. Basil is perfect to use for your tomato sauces or soups in the winter!

Ingredients

Use basil fresh from the garden or if you have extra from the store! - Fresh basil leaves - Extra-virgin olive oil

Roll and chiffonade leaves and place in each cube.  Chiffonade is just a fancy way to say cut like I show you in the picture.

Pour enough olive oil to cover the basil. Buy good olive oil because it will be part of your dish that you will be making.

Place in the freezer until you're ready to use them. If you are making many, you can take frozen cubes from your tray and place in a freezer bag.
