London, England. And, where we are going for tea!

Can I tell you about the best, most awesome place to go for a family vacation?  Two years ago (almost three), my family went to London, England.  And, it was totally AWESOME!

Our London family trip.If you haven't been, that's the Thames River.  And the clock, it's THE clock.  That's Big Ben.

    Our London, England family trip.

Above, that's the London Eye.  It's the tourist thing to do there!

I LOVE, LOVE London.  Maybe because I love history.  There is so much of it in London.

    Our London, England family trip.

Who hasn't heard of the London Bridge.   Oh my gosh!  We walked across it!  Look under the center of the bridge.  Do you see where they were storing the olympic rings for the 2012 Olympics?  It was such an exciting time to visit.  We arrived a month after Queen Elizabeth's 60th Jubilee and a month before the 2012 Olympics.  London sparkled!

I think I told you I love history.  I also love literature.  And, my birthday is the same day as William Shakespeare!  Ha!!  Bet you don't know when that is and I'm not telling : ).   But, I'm obviously not as old as he is.   Same day, different year!  Anyhow, see the theatre below.   I still can't believe I was there!

The GLOBE THEATRE, people!!  And, my favorite Shakespeare play was on.  Taming of the Shrew - totally loved it.  Mind you, the folks around us were totally entertained by my kid's shock and horror that there was a little live nudity (just a little) on the stage!  I still remember two ladies found my kids' reaction hysterical.  But, hey, it's art!  And, it's Shakespeare!

And, there are castles!  Real castles, that British royalty lived in before Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue.   And, that royalty live in NOW!  A little outside of London, we saw Windsor Castle!

    Our London, England family trip.

It was so pretty!  It was just such an amazing feeling walking through the castle grounds.  {sigh} Love being in such a historical place.

And further outside of London, we actually saw Stonehenge!  WOW!

Our London, England family trip.We left Stonehenge, still, not knowing how it got there. Or even why.  It's an amazing feeling being there.  And being in the soaking downpour.  But hey, what's a little rain when you are at STONEHENGE!!

We also saw the the city of Bath.    The Romans actually came here to 'spa'.

Our London, England family trip.It rained there too.

So, why am I telling all about this?  Why am I telling you about a trip I took almost three years ago?

Because {deep breath}, because, I'm going AGAIN!  And, this time it's a GIRLFRIEND trip.  We are both leaving the families at home.   AND, AND, oh boy, and, we are going to Downton Abby for tea!!  Yes, we are.  We are going to Highclere Castle!  Where they film Downton Abby.  And we are having tea.  And scones.  And fancy little sandwiches.   And I want to buy a HAT in London.  And, I hope I see Kate.  And, I'm going to Downton Abby!  So I have a HAT for tea.  Am I totally weird?  Would you want to wear a hat if you were having tea at Downton Abby?  And wouldn't you want to see Kate if you were in London.  But, if I can't see Kate, I'd be happy, no ecstatic, if we saw Maggie Smith.

So here's the thing.  Because you are awesome.  And, because I share so much on my blog, you can come with us.  We'll be sharing our adventures on Instagram.  And, of course, I'll be blogging about it.  We are going to London on May 1st.  Sign up to follow my Instagram account now.  So you don't forget!  Because you don't want to miss tea at Downton Abby!  Because you need to know if I find a hat!
